Israel and Saudi Arabia scrambled jets over fears of a hijacking on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia.

Despite a brief emergency alert signalling a hijacking, the Israeli prime minister's office confirmed this had been ruled out.

Flight-tracking data shows the Tel Aviv-bound flight suddenly changed course over northwestern Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

A “violent incident” between two pilots caused a FlyDubai aircraft traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv to divert to Saudi Arabia, sources have told CNN.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham says the U.K. has “strong indications” that Iran played a part in the incident that saw five men arrested near a U.S.-run air base in England late at night.Burnham told British broadcasters on Wednesday that British and American officials are carrying out a “complex and serious” investigation into how five men and three vans came to be near the perimeter of RAF Fairford.

The five suspects, who haven't been named, were initially held over suspected explosives offenses and later also arrested on suspicion of preparing an act of terrorism.
